About Me

I’m a strategic communicator who believes the best work happens when you combine clear thinking with creative execution. With roots in journalism, I bring a curious, people-first lens to every project, whether I’m building a campaign, ghostwriting for leadership or shaping internal culture. I’ve worked across sectors, cultures and time zones, always with the goal of making communications more thoughtful, human and effective.

About My Portfolio

This selection of projects reflects the range of my work — from planning and writing to multimedia and communications strategy. With experience across nonprofit, corporate and government sectors, I’ve led complex initiatives from concept to execution. I am just as comfortable organizing and executing media conferences and engaging with stakeholders as I am creating internal or operational communications content – and often do so simultaneously.

Some pieces are marked Internal Only to offer a behind-the-scenes look at work developed in confidential settings. These are shared for review purposes only and should not be distributed beyond what’s needed. Thanks for respecting the privacy of these materials.

Writing & Editorial Strategy

Longform, editorial and internal content that balances storytelling with strategy

Internal Only - Representation Matters: Recognizing Katherine Pollock’s Mentorship

I wrote this article for Fasken Connect, our firm’s internal communications hub, to recognize partner Katherine Pollock and her contributions to the legal community. Katherine was named the 2024 recipient of the Ontario Bar Association’s Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Community (SOGIC) Robert Muir Award for Mentorship. In addition to developing this narrative content, I was also responsible for crafting the award submission and preparing speaking notes for the firm’s managing partner to deliver at the awards ceremony.

Health Matters: Dr. Andrew Marshall Ready To Support Canada’s Paralympians

Part of a sponsored series I developed for the Canadian Paralympic Committee and Pfizer, I managed the entire creative process for this article — from identifying compelling voices, to conducting interviews to writing the final piece. Following the success of the 2021 series for the Tokyo Paralympic Games, I was brought back to produce a new series for the 2022 Beijing Winter Paralympic Games.

Ontario Provincial Police 2022 Annual Report

As part of a small core team, I played a key role in developing the OPP’s 2022 Annual Report. My responsibilities included reviewing and verifying data, providing direction to the graphic designer to ensure clarity and consistency and contributing to the written content. I was the primary writer for several narrative articles featured in the report, including:

  • Commissioner’s Message (page 5)

  • From Awareness to Action: Launch of the New Anti-Racism Action Plan (pages 34-35)

  • Member Support Networks (page 38)

  • Northern Cadet Program (pages 44-45)

  • Ontario Under Crisis (page 53)

The final report provided a clear, accessible overview of the OPP’s work and priorities over the past year.

Strategic Communications & Planning

Research-driven communications and strategic planning to support organizational change and alignment

Internal Only - Strategic Planning – Barrie Food Bank

As a board member and member of the Strategic Planning Committee, I led the research and analysis that informed the organization’s three-year strategic plan. Working independently, I conducted interviews with staff and community stakeholders, analyzed survey results and internal data and assessed sector trends related to food insecurity and nonprofit operations. From this work, I developed a PESTLE and SWOT analysis and proposed strategic pillars and priorities. The resulting plan, designed to be both actionable and future-focused, was unanimously approved by the Board of Directors.

Internal Only - Return to Office Communications Plan – Nutrition International

As part of Nutrition International’s global Return to Office strategy, I developed a multi-region communications plan to support the rollout of a new app for tracking employee COVID-19 vaccinations. With staff based across Canada, Asia and Africa, the plan required tailored messaging that aligned with regional needs, cultural contexts and varying levels of digital access. Recognizing the sensitivity of the topic, I applied a change management lens to build trust, address concerns and ensure transparency. Communications included key messages, FAQs and targeted internal content designed to guide staff through the transition with clarity and care.

Strategic Communications and Press Conference – Ontario Provincial Police - Project Totton (Criminal Investigation Branch)

As lead Strategic Communications Officer for Project Totton - a two-and-a-half-year criminal investigation into the creation and sale of fraudulent Norval Morrisseau artwork - I developed and executed the full communications strategy. This included planning a high-profile press conference involving two police services and Indigenous leaders, writing scripts for all five speakers, sourcing photographs, coordinating interviews, directing stage layout and preparing internal and external materials.

Media Relations, Public Affairs & Event Delivery

Press conferences, public messaging and reputation management for high-profile initiatives

Strategic Communications and Press Conference – Ontario Provincial Police - Project Coyote (Multi-Agency Communications Lead)

I led the communications rollout for Project Coyote, a 13-month investigation that resulted in hundreds of charges against 27 individuals, including members of the Hells Angels and Red Devils. Working under tight timelines coordinated with arrests, I liaised across three police services to deliver a seamless virtual press conference. I developed the media advisory, press release, media kit, detailed charge addendum and scripts for OPP Chief Superintendent Paul Mackey and Belleville Deputy Chief Chris Barry. I also scheduled and managed all media interviews and ensured a coordinated, strategic message across agencies.

I led every stage of production - from story development to sound design - creating a compelling and authentic message. Inspired by Humans of New York, this photo and storytelling series featured portraits and short interviews with youth members of the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa. I photographed each participant and captured their voices through candid, conversational interviews. The series was shared across social media and donor communications to celebrate the individuality, resilience and everyday stories of the young people the Club supports.
